Job Description: Ribbon Splicer – Data Center (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Abilene, TX (long-term project)
Schedule: 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation | 5x12 shifts currently both day and night shift.
Overtime: 15+ hours per week
Compensation: $26–$35/hour (based on ribbon splicing experience) + $178/day per diem (7 days per week while traveling)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced Ribbon Splicer to support a large-scale data center project in Abilene, TX. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with competitive pay and travel benefits.
The successful candidate will bring proven ribbon fiber splicing experience, OTDR testing expertise, and the flexibility to work in a demanding data center environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality ribbon fiber optic splicing, including mass fusion splicing.
- Conduct OTDR testing and troubleshoot as needed to ensure network integrity.
- Document all splicing and testing results with precision.
- Follow industry best practices and safety standards at all times.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to meet deadlines.
Requirements
- 1+ years of ribbon splicing experience (data center experience strongly preferred).
- Proficiency with OTDR testing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in splicing and testing.
- Willingness to work extended hours on a rotational schedule (3 weeks on, 1 week off).
- Must be open to long-term assignment work in Abilene, TX.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Rate: $26–$35/hour, based on ribbon splicing experience.
- Per Diem: $178/day (paid 7 days a week while traveling).
- Schedule: 3 weeks on / 1 week off rotation | 5 x 12 shifts, both day and night.
